Marimba 44 – Aluminum Yacht – Blue Water Cruiser for Ocean Cruising
The choice if you want to Circum Navigate safely, no matter if its in Patagonia, Northern Norway, Greenland or the warmer Caribbean or South Pacific, then this is the boat for you.
This beautiful aluminum Blue Water Cruiser Yacht “Gepetho” is a robust Ocean-going Marimba 44. This safe and stable boat is perfect for a family or a couple who dream about distant shores and adventures with a very comfortable and a convenient live-aboard life whether in a colder or warmer climate.
Strong Aluminum design, with an appealing Center Cockpit, Aft-Cabin design, that by first glance makes people think she is a Hallberg-Rassy, Najad or a Moody. The boat certainly been inspired by the same ideas for comfort and safe sailing, BUT with the extra safety features as watertight Bulkheads, oversized Rig and many other features. The engine is developed by MWM (later Deutz) robustly developed as agricultural machinery and marine engine. Many boats of the German Navy use this engine. Spare parts availability worldwide, since installed in various Renault and Fendt agricultural machinery. Very reliable and very easy to maintain. The robust underwater ship offers great stability and safety with its half-long keel. The 90 mm rudder shaft, in a long Teflon socket integrated in 10 mm Wall thickness in aluminum over the water line is an important safety especially that its also connected with a solid skeg protecting the rudder.
Marimba 44 was originally designed by New Zealand architect Alan Mummery, and was by first owner, build in Germany on Sandmeier boatyard, who specializes in aluminum construction in Germany. A total of 4 pcs. of the Marimba were built. Various ideas from experienced World sailors was integrated.
Gepetho was build in 1996 and only little used – only in summertime, and kept indoor during winter, by first owner before current owners bought her in 2012.
This safe and stable Aluminum yacht is ready for take-off and have been updated to take on any passage in the world and at the same time offers comfortable live-aboard life in a tasteful Teak interior. The constructor and previous owners have had a high focus on quality i every detail. The inside is tastefully classic and well planned. A master aft cabin with double bed and a front cabin for 2 guests. On the starboard side towards aft cabin is even an extra bed alongside. Two more guests may even sleep in salon. The one head is by the aft cabin. Used to be shower in the head, but require change of watertap for refit. Showers were by the current owners done outdoor aft on deck or in cockpit to avoid humidity inside boat. Kitchen is well equipped with space for storage and cooking. A top loaded refrigerator and a gas burner stove and oven. The salon comfortably seats 6 persons in 2 sofas, one on each side of large foldable table.
The well protected center cockpit has fixed windows and large sprayhood, but also a complete cover available for protection both against weather and sun and with a lot of space for comfortable outdoor everyday boat life and safe cruising. Teak deck in great condition and very well maintained.
The current owners cruised waters in Northern Europe (Norway, Sweden, Germany) the first years of their cruising. After that and with some time between for work, they sailed south from Northern Europe to the Atlantic and crossed the Atlantic Ocean 2018/19 to the Caribbean where they enjoyed the islands before heading back to Europe. This cruising machine has proved its capabilities in all types of weather and sea, and from the cold north to the warm and sunny weather in South and in the Caribbean. The current owners travelling with their now grownup children are now moving into a significant larger sailboat and will continue travelling.
